Announcing release 1.2 of NeST, significantly improving Line Result generation and export capablities

  • At GeoFennex, we’re committed to delivering a high quality, easy to use, and feature-full application that will continue to increase in value to our users. NeST release 1.2 certainly fulfills these commitments.

    Release Highlights

    • 2D elastic/engineering moduli derived results (e.g. Poisson Ratio, Young’s Modulus) officially released. more here
    • 1D results generation from user defined depths and/or offsets from any 2D line result.
    • Variety of new export formats including georeferenced XYZC file formats.

    Full Release Notes

    General

    • Added Pressure Units (Pascal or psi) to Options in support of the new Density line results
    • Elevation server DEM highlighting has been improved

    QC

    • Shots with different number of traces can now be imported into the same line
    • Shot navigation now supports the Left, Right, Up, and Down arrow keys along with the Home, End, PgUp, and PgDown keys

    Analysis

    • Kill (trace) Processing Block can now kill traces via the ‘K’ key in addition to the right click menu
    • Result navigation now supports the Home, End, PgUp, and PgDown keys

    Surface Wave Analysis

    • Added Density as a base Line Result
    • Greatly improved the determination as to whether or not a shot needs to rerun the inversion which offers a great speed increase
    • Added the ability to rerun the inversion of a individual shot. The user can also queue multiple shots to be inverted manually

    First Break Analysis

    • Added Density as a base Line Result. Uses Gardner’s Relation with each coefficient being settable

    Line Results

    • Ability to add labels to the major grids
    • Result auto scaling is now done to nice numbers rather than the raw data limits
    • Created a new export file format, Nest Data (.glr), which is a comma separated ASCII file format allowing for full export of georeferenced results.
      • Supports XY, XYZ, and XYZC data.
      • Both 1D and 2D results support this file format.

    2D Line Results

    In addition to density results (from both surface wave and first break analyses), the following Engineering Moduli were added as derived results:

    • Poisson Ratio
    • Bulk Modulus
    • Young’s Modulus
    • Shear Modulus
    • Lame’s First Parameter
    • P-wave modulus

    Additional Export formats were added:

    • XYZ grids (.grd)
    • Geo Referenced Data (.csv, .dat, .txt) in a XYZ or XYZC format X: Easting Y: Northing Z: Elevation C: 2D Value
    • NeST Data (.glr)

    1D Line Results

    This new capability allows the user to create new 1D Line Results that can have either horizonal or vertical slices from any base or derived line results. Some of the new features are:

    • Unlimited number of slices with user defined locations being from:
      • specific Line Offsets for vertical slices
      • either Elevation, Depth, or Relative Depth below surface for horizontal slices
    • Display a legend in one of eight locations
    • Up to four 2D Results from which to pick slices
    • Each slice has user definable attributes including:
      • color, line type(Solid, Dash, Dot, Dash Dot, Dash Dot Dot), and line options (Normal, Bold)
      • legend labels
    • Slices are displayed on the associated 2D result using the Slice’s line attributes
    • If the 1D result is based on a Vs result, there are additional options that can be specified:
      • Ability to use the layer model
      • Compute VsN where N is 30 meters, 100 feet, or a depth of the user’s choosing
      • Compute NEHRP Site Classification

    Each 1D result can be exported as:

    • Image (.bmp, .jpg, .png, .ppm, .pdf)
    • CSV file (.csv, .dat, .txt) in a XY format (Vertical Slices: X: Line Offset Y: Slice Value) or (Horizontal Slices: X: Slice Value Y: Depth, Relative Depth or Elevation )
    • CSV file (.csv, .dat, .txt) in a XYZ or XYZC format X: Easting Y: Northing Z: Elevation C: Slice Value
    • NeST Data (.glr)
